Inappropriate Trading Conduct
Cross Trading
Can I cross-trade?
The short answer is no. Cross-trading is a bannable offense not only within Adopt Me but also within Roblox itself. We've set up a few Frequently Asked Questions below to give some more information on the subject.
What is Cross-Trading?
Cross-trading is the act of trading Adopt Me items for any of the following:
- Goods and/or services
- Items in other Roblox experiences
- Items in other games
- Robux/Real Money
- Bucks or items in-game that cannot go inside the trading window.
Just so you know, using a middleman (mm) service/individual is also considered cross-trading. A middleman is a person who handles the cross-trade on behalf of both players.
What is wrong with Cross-Trading?
- Cross-trading can result in being scammed out of items not only in Adopt Me, but also potentially losing items from other experiences or real money.
- Purchasing items on websites such as eBay and Facebook Marketplace can encourage businesses based around scamming other players out of their items.
- Cross-trading is also against Roblox's Terms of Service, which can result in account termination if discovered.
How does Adopt Me Support handle reports of Cross-Trading?
Cross-trading reports are handled on a case-by-case basis and can depend on the level of offense. Extreme cases can result in a permanent ban from our experience.
How can I avoid Cross-Trading?
If it can't go in the trading grid in-game, it is likely considered cross-trading. Don't trade for items outside of the Adopt Me trading grid.
If you are aware of someone engaging in cross-trading or a website/creator encouraging it, please report the player's Roblox profile.
Gambling
What is Gambling?
Gambling is the act of offering or giving pets, Adopt Me! items, Roblox Inventory items, or Robux for the chance to win any of the following:
- Adopt Me! Pets
- Adopt Me! Items
- Adopt Me! Currency
- Items in other Roblox experiences
- Roblox Inventory Items
- Real Money
- Robux
What is Uplift Games' stance on gambling?
Gambling is strictly against the rules of Adopt Me, and will result in a permanent ban for players found to be involved. This can include gambling using any of the following methods:
- Giveaways where a player must give an item or currency in order to be entered
- Games within Adopt Me! that involve giving an item in order to participate without a guaranteed prize
- The use of a third-party site or secondary experience to engage in gambling (This can also be considered a cross-trade)
Why shouldn't I gamble?
While it is against both Roblox's our rules, there are other reasons you shouldn't engage in gambling, including the following:
- Some gambling acts, such as playing Pick-A-Door, can be scams to steal your hard earned pets and items. Adopt Me! Support doesn't return items that are lost via these methods.
- As mentioned previously, engaging in gambling can result in a permanent ban for any account found involved.
Third Party Websites
Can I use a website to purchase/sell Adopt Me items?
No, the use of third-party websites to purchase or sell Adopt Me pets or items is against our Terms of Service and can result in punishment within the Adopt Me experience. For more information on specific questions you may have regarding this rule, please review the Frequently Asked Questions below. Selling or buying pets is also a form of cross-trading.
What is a third-party website?
A third party website, in this case, is any site that allows for the purchase or sale of Adopt Me pets or items that is not in control of Uplift Games. These websites can either be focused exclusively on selling/purchasing, or can simply allow for the selling/purchasing of Adopt Me pets or items among other unrelated items, such as eBay or Facebook Marketplace.
Why are third-party websites bad?
Third-party websites can be bad for a few reasons:
- These types of websites are directly against both Adopt Me's and Roblox's Terms of Service.
- Pets put on these websites, at times, may be sourced by either hackers or scammers trying to make money off of their wrongdoings.
- Sellers on these sites could be attempting to scam you, getting your money from you without delivering the promised pet or item.
Does this mean I can sell my pets/items for Robux within Roblox itself?
No, the sale of Adopt Me pets for Robux is against our Terms of Service.
How can I purchase pets/items safely?
The only way to purchase Adopt Me pets/items is to purchase them from within the Adopt Me experience using either earned bucks or Robux, depending on the item. Please note that only items available for sale from Uplift Games are allowed to be purchased.
This means, as a player, you cannot sell your Adopt Me pets for Robux, Bucks, or any form of currency. If you have a pet you are looking to clear from your inventory, consider trading it to another member of the community for something you're looking for within Adopt Me!
What is the punishment for using these types of sites?
At this time, we handle the use of these types of sites on a case by case basis. Depending on the severity of the use of these sites, the punishment can be anything from a temporary restriction on the ability to trade to a permanent ban from Adopt Me. Keep in mind repeated uses after temporary punishments will result in another, more severe/permanent punishment.
I've used "insert website name here" before!
Even if you somehow avoid being spotted and actioned by a member of our team, we are still consistently finding and banning the bots that are associated with these sites for storing items. This means you risk losing your pets each time you deposit them into a holding bot. The site you are using will not be able to assist in returning these items, and neither will we.
